Pre-Tanning Instructions

  • Prior to tanning, preferably the night beforeexfoliate skin with a loofa, bath gloves or body scrub.  Exfoliating allows for a smoother application as well as helping the tan to fade evenly.
  • At the time of application, be sure skin is completely clean and dry.  Do not apply any makeup, lotions, oils, deodorants or perfumes prior to your appointment.
  • Shaving should be done 24 hours prior to tanning.  Waxing can leave a residue on the skin preventing the solution from absorbing and should be avoided at least two days prior to your spray tan.
For your Tanning Appointment....

  • Wear loose and dark clothing - cotton does not seem to stain.  Elastics from underwear or tight clothing can cause dark spots. If possible, wear clothes that allow you to not wear underwear or bras, or choose underwear with loose elastics. Tanning Solution may stain clothing, please keep this in mind and dress appropriately.  If you are tanning at your home, a dark colored bath robe would be ideal to put on after your session.
  • During the tan you may wear a swim suit, however, wear one that you don’t mind being stained or damaged.  The solution should not stain clothes, but there are no guarantees.  You may also wear underwear or nothing.  Guys must wear something!
  • Put hair up and remove all jewelry.

Note:  Sunburns and Tattoos should be completely healed before spray tanning.  Tanning solution will make your burn peel faster, which will make the tan look blotchy. Please wait to book your appointment until the burn/tattoo has healed.

After Tanning Instructions

  • Allow 5 minutes for the tan solution to dry before dressing.
  • Avoid touching your skin while the tan is developing as this will cause your fingertips to become tanned also.
  • You will be given a specific time to shower.  If you are sprayed with a solution that develops rapidly, you will shower within 2 - 6 hours.  Other solutions are required to develop for 8 - 12 hours before showering.  Your tanning technician will help you select a solution that best suits your skin tone.
  • While the tan is developing, avoid contact with water.  This includes bathing, showering, washing hands, swimming and exercising.  If you do any of these activities before the time is up, the tan will not develop to the full potential of darkness.
  • Your bronzer will wash off with your first shower.  The water will turn brown.  This is normal.  If you are sprayed with a solution that develops rapidly, you will not have a tan when you shower.  It will develop over the next 24 hours.
  • After bathing, gently "pat dry" skin.  Immediately after pat drying skin, generously apply moisturizer.  It is recommended to moisturize twice daily.  One application should be a tan extender, such as Norvell Pro-Long.  Follow directions on packaging.  This will extend the life of your tan!
  • Swimming in Salt Water or Chlorine will fade your tan faster.  Excessive sweating may also remove your tan.
  •  Do not use body scrubs or rub your skin roughly with a towel, this will fade the tan quickly.  Do NOT use a wash cloth.  Use your hands and soap.  The first shower should be a rinse with NO SOAP!
